Stanley Kubrick is legend, but Eyes wide shut was a piece of shit in my eyes...Most agree! I couldn't ever sit through it without walking away & had to come back to it to say i watched the enitre crap of film.

You also stated The Shining and Full Metal Jacket as his only two good films. If you look those two were more entertaining I agree than his others to the masses but his other films like 2001 and Clockwork Orange are pieces of art. I have yet to see Barry Lyndon.

I didn't say Oscars he personally got. I'm talking about the number of Oscars his films garnered. He had so much control over his films he didn't do very many, due to his perfectionism and the time period it took to make the films, but his 13 films I believe were so good due to his creative control that they were very critically acclaimed and won many oscars. Yes his films never did well at the box office but he was an artists he wasn't an entertainment driven director like Michael Bay.

for: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

The Oscars nearly all of his films won say otherwise.

Wrong. Kubrick is seriously underrated. His films are so popular that people don't feel obliged to look beneath the surface, or give them repeated viewings. I think people watch his films passively, expecting a masterpiece, without doing any of the work a good viewer should. I imagine you would object to this, but I doubt you've given his films the attention they deserve.
It's like the Mona Lisa, everyone knows it, but how many people have spent five minutes looking at it? Not many I bet.

The only reason i rate those 5 great, is because there riveting, entertaining throughout AND thought provoking. And i meant languge(in clockwork orange) meaning the slang they were using,i always believe a film should be slighted a bit if you have to read the book first to understand certain key things.I didnt mention lolita or spartacus, because kubrick couldnt make lolita how he wanted, and had no real control over spartacus

KUbrick had 5 perfect films to me.The killing, pats of glory,dr strangelove, the shining and full metal jacket.I also believe he had 4 near great films with 2001,clockwork orange, barry lyndon and eyes wide shut. The pacing kept 3 of those from being great, and a little too much strangeness and language from clockwork, kept that from being great

seriously overrated. only 2 of his films are good, the shining and full metal jacket |
